In this post this post, we're highlighting our Recruiting Manager Elizabeth Faddis!

What's your position you play ?

I play a variety of roles in . In the P&C organization, I help to create transformational as well as operational efficiencies within the talent management organization. I also help build talent attraction and acquisition programs. The top priorities are enhancing the company's recruiting strategy as well as processes and programmes that meet the current and future talent needs. My job is to assist the business from a process perspective by filling vacancies and securing new jobs, while also strategic in building infrastructure around the evaluation and selection process.

You recently started your Recruiting Manager role at , how are you enjoying it?

I am awestruck by my team! I have learned a lot through working with the Director for People and Culture, Aran Klingensmith. I appreciate her enthusiasm for the significance of our culture and our commitment to continue to improve and develop programs that create a great cultural experience for employees. I am impressed by the top caliber of our teams across every department; they've been welcoming and accommodating right from day one. Additionally, the opportunity to support the hiring process within our Amsterdam office was a great international experience in recruiting for me.

What was the process of onboarding similar to the one I was a remote worker for your company ?

I onboarded at Santa Barbara a week before the company became completely remote because of COVID-19 that was not a good moment to join as a Recruiter. The company took immediate steps in the course of navigating the negative impact of COVID as well as the overall performance. We are fortunate to be at a point of rapid expansion, keeping our team very busy.

What did you do before and how did you get to the point you are now?

The bulk of my career has been spent in the capacity of internal recruiters which has been primarily working with scale-up and tech companies that I've performed similar tasks as the one I currently work with . Prior to joining was with the agency side. I assisted in launching an Executive recruitment firm in Chicago. I was the first employee appointed, and later we expanded the team to up to 15 people. This was a great chance to be exposed to every aspect of creating an organization and branding from scratch. I met the company via a connection between our CEO David Nachman, and I. The timing was perfect as I was passionate about returning to the internal side of recruiting.

Why are you so passionate about becoming a recruiter?

Following my Bachelor's Degree with a major in Business and Psychology (with an emphasis in HR) I was enthusiastic about pursuing a career path in Human Resources. It was a perfect fit for my love for people as well as business. It was then that I realized that HR and recruiting are two separate disciplines. I am more attracted to the recruitment aspect due to the fact that there is a selling orientation with a little bit of "art and scientific research" which is required to recruit. This is a fulfilling job that offers an opportunity to help facilitate crucial decisions for people in their careers AND make a significant impact on hiring top talent, which allows organizations to develop and thrive.

What would a typical day take for Elizabeth at her job?

A normal day for me involves being calling a lot. I generally have back-to-back video calls, screening/interviewing, and courting candidates through our process. I'm in close contact with the hiring manager on progress as well as progress reports/candidate activity and so on. Additionally, I devote time on strategic projects like interview training and program development in the department of recruiting.

What do you find most exciting about the job that you are working at ?

I enjoy the possibility to have an influence on how things work in terms of talent. I like partnering with managers to intimately understand the job responsibilities and devise strategies to identify candidate pools and select the top talent to join their teams. Being growing rapidly can be a challenging task for me to continue working to shape, create strategies, and enhance them across teams. I also love the fact that we're a global company, and I have the opportunity to collaborate with our team in Amsterdam.

What are your favorite pastimes and interests in your spare time?

Two of my sons are nine and eleven, and they keep me on my feet! Between work and my children, I have a full plate. I enjoy doing yoga, laying by the pool, and taking a break from reading (historical fiction) to unwind. I'm close to my family and enjoy being with them as much as possible, although it's been challenging the last couple of months!

What's a funny information that most people don't have heard about you?

Two of my dad's cousins are the first members of the classic rock group, Styx and they were raised right next to each other. It's hilarious because the group still plays at random festivals, and we can see them backstage. If we listen to Styx on the radio, I inform my children that it's their friends are listening to. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit any of their abilities of the musicians.
