MRR and ARR Calculation

In the past upgrade, downgrades as well as add-ons, were sometimes not recorded or properly handled when it came to reporting on subscriptions. The issues were addressed, and now calculations will be more correct going forward.

What changes should I expect to see at My Store?

If you are a heavy use of upgrades, downgrades, or add-ons, you may see your MRR and ARR change slighty due to the newly updated calculation. The calculations are more precise than previous reporting with the identified fixes. If you still have questions you can contact us at [email protected].

Historical MRR Changes

Prior to this, we would use the date of deactivation to check on the date of cancellation before removing MRR contributions. This had the unfortunate side effect of altering historic MRR value. To solve this the issue, we've updated our analysis to record cancellations on the day of cancellation , and eliminate MRR contribution on that day.

Examples of changes

Let's consider an example of an annual subscription that was activated in January 2023, canceled in May 2023, and later deactivated in the month of December 2023. Our previous MRR contribution calculation would not change until after December 2023. It could also alter the MRR contribution for the period of May to December of 2023.

In the present, using the dates in the above example this calculation instantly eliminates the MRR contribution to the account beginning with cancellation in May of 2023, resulting in a more precise MRR Change calculation.

What changes should I expect to see at My Store?

For some sellers, this might result in an increase in cancellation counts and an increase in the MRR of subscribers and customers who are active. If you're interested in more information about this report, you can email [email protected].
