What's your story?

"My name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator animator and GIF artist who is based in Brooklyn, New York. In my work as a professional, I create motion graphics, animated illustrations as well as storyboards to explainers for videos, and mobile apps. What I like to do in my spare time is create fun and unique animated graphics and stickers that can make anyone smile, and allow them to communicate their ideas."

"I grew up in Taiwan and began attending the fine arts school when I was little. I've always loved drawing, but I began to be stymied by a very traditional education style. I was feeling like I was unable to express my personality and voice through the conventional tools in art. Learning about fine art certainly helped me build the basis for who I am now."

"I changed to design school in college and moved to New York for grad school. That's when I began experimenting using animations and digital art. Animation provided me with the capability to mix illustrations and motion in order to tell a story in a dynamic method. I really enjoyed discovering how to bring still images to life."

What is the style of your animations?

"I often love to express my personality through colorful, fun and quirky design. It is my belief that smiling is an excellent way of evaluating successful work. "

What are the most important factors in creating your animation graphic?

"I am a fan of working with an empathetic sense and powerful emotions that make individuals feel more connected. I enjoy exploring different media as well as creating an original aesthetic. The process of designing can be really enjoyable!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I enjoy how people spark ideas together in the team, and also believe that good work typically is made by a collection that has distinct strengths and abilities.

In daily life, I'm not going to stop making items that inspire me. When not designing or making motion graphics, I could be found making a chaos in my kitchen (lots in cooking) as well as making craft projects. I love to visit Brooklyn market and try my hand on various food items at my home. The world is filled with wonderful things. I love exploring new cultures, communities and innovative artwork."
