We held a discussion of three Black customers to find out more about their own personal journeys and the people who guided them to where they are today in their lives, as well as their goals and goals to influence the future of our country.

Karl Ferguson Jr.

Karl is a believer in the belief that your job should allow you to support your passion, until the enthusiasm that you possess can be used to finance your entire life. Karl has managed to do just that: through balancing his work with his love of portrait photography. One glance at his website will make stunned by the number of notable people he's shot in the entertainment industry. Karl's website has enabled him to the public to see his work in front of many potential customers within a few seconds. "One among the greatest features offers is the dynamic manner in which I'm able to move and drop images to modify them with a snap of notice," Karl says.

Community has played a major role in Karl's success with photography. Sharing ideas with other Black photographers gives him that underlying feeling of community even in a field that could feel isolated at times. Karl is hoping to give back throughout his professional career in order to foster similar communities for the newest creatives in the field. "Paying it forward is being accessible to others," Karl says. By sharing his experience and expertise, Karl hopes to help more creatives be the best that they can be.

When asked what he might advise his younger self, as one who's only beginning with photography Karl's suggestion is: "Don't get so intense that you cease to enjoy the process of creating. The ability to be patient and taking part in this process could be among the important aspects of being a photographer."
