Get rid of perfectionists: Advice from the creators of content

Oct 13, 2022

You're likely to remember that you've known someone who could not complete a task because they thought that everything had to be perfect. But, perfection doesn't exist (truly). So, the work you've done will be left without being completed in computers or their studio. Some might consider it was a waste of time since nobody gets to appreciate what artists created.

Perfectionists are a huge obstacle for entrepreneurs and creators. A study of research conducted in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, perfectionism can be associated with "feelings of failure, guilt and indecisiveness, as well as procrastination, anxiety, and low self-esteem." This is why, it is difficult for people to complete projects or tasks which is known as the "perfectionism paralysis". How do overcome it?

The process of letting go of the idea of perfectionism and moving towards a realistic standard for what can be released for public consumption is a challenge. To help you succeed, we asked two experienced authors to discuss their experiences in overcoming perfection at a live summit, which was held in August 2022. Watch the live stream here:

How come people can get so focused on perfectionism?

How have you overcome perfectionism?

Digital goods don't have to be perfect, however, they do require an acceptable standard of quality to make a profit. What is the best way to establish their standards to a standard of excellence that is appropriate for their company and their brand?

Grace states:

"Consider how it represents the quality of your content and knowledge you're planning to provide? Does it tell a compelling narrative about the value that you can provide? Then, of course you need to ensure that you're editing your copy and that it has top quality sound and videos. These are all things that are likely to help make the experience as good as could be.

But, I think that above all else it is best to just go for it. You don't need to have an expensive production team in order to create an impressive video. You can shoot something nice using your iPhone. Be sure that there's nothing else on the screen and the audio quality's excellent.

What's the most important step a skilled creator can offer to help in developing their first digital product?

   Steve says:

"I observe that the vast majority of business owners are engrossed with their message and they're not thinking about the marketplace. You must ask yourself: can there be a market to my product? What can you do to determine whether there's a market for your message?

It's really quite simple To ask questions specific to your situation for example:

  1. What's the issue that my vocal voice, or my enthusiasm for solving could help me solve?
  2. Who's the cause and who is the person in need of this solution?
  3. Who are you obligated to serve?
  4. What are they?
  5. What will they do to be able to
  6. What is the amount of money they have?
  7. What is the reason why anyone should go to you instead of all the alternatives readily available?

can help you get your knowledge out to the world community (finally!)
