Welcome to our conversation with the illustrator from Canada, designer, and creative instructor Maia Faddoul. Maia is the first generation Canadian artist, who operates in her Montreal studio. She draws vibrant and vivid illustrations for editorials, packaging, publishing, and more. Her style is high contrast, vibrant, and striking and often has a subdued political message hidden somewhere.

Maia is a total color-lover as well as a kind of extreme person when it comes to her artistic style. Maia uses her art as a means to show her convictions, to speak up about injustices and spread consciousness to causes that matter so much to her.  I think of my drawing style as "High Contrast'.

I see my style as vivid, high-contrast and colorful and often has a subdued message of social justice hidden in the background. I am a total color-lover and also a kind of extreme person when it comes to my artistic style.

 What's the secret for creating illustrations?

An important aspect of my practice is making art that reflects my beliefs and beliefs. I'm not the most outspoken or extrovert, therefore I often use my art to communicate my beliefs, speak out about injustices and spread awareness of causes that matter a lot to me.
