If I am free, I enjoy doing 30 minutes- 1 hour study or explorations, where I can do whatever want to do that day. This has helped me grow, but it also made me realize which things I liked.

Nowadays, I like to focus on the color of light and how to explain things in a way that is simple so I don't have to get too specific on all of it. I tend to draw my forms very close to the real world however, in the future I want to try to push shapes more and also be more stylized in my art.
Before I begin painting, usually I like laying out my main shapes initially, either using BW, or simply straight using color. If I feel it's necessary first, I begin with linework first. Once I have a good basis, I will map in the light shapes and shadow shapes onto separate layers. It is not until that point do I begin to create or render the image in a variety of ways, from huge to tiny specifics.

To create the Streets of London painting I used a similar process. In order to have neat edges and keep everything organized I used a lot of layers. Additionally, I had the primary light in an additional layer.
Using layers also makes me worry less about making mistakes, but once I feel comfortable with where I'm at with my painting, I begin to combine a couple of aspects, while keeping only those things that I believe are necessary.

For me, colours are often a "feel" thing, I just go for what feels right. Also, I have a number of reference sources which I use to assist me in choosing the perfect colours. Sometimes I combine references, and at sometimes I just use just one.
It's certainly a smart idea to study colour and light theory, to know the limits you can do to make your general colour scheme and value better.

It's hard for me to say what the most important thing I do to create my art is... I simply like exploring different styles, mediums as well as subject matter and be in the spirit of other artists.
I'm still so early in my artistic journey that I continue to try to figure out what I'm like as an artist and what kind of style I have. The main difference nowadays is that I don't think about it as much I used to , and I think that's making significant changes.
