When I have time I enjoy doing 30-minute-hour research or other explorations in which I just do whatever I think I'm feeling during the day. It was a huge help in my development, however it also helped find what sort of things I enjoyed.

These days I really like to focus on lighting, color as well as how to convey textures in a simple way so I don't have to be too detailed on all of it. My preference is to draw my forms pretty close to real life However, as time goes on, I'm looking to make shapes move further and be more stylized with my art.
Before I begin painting, usually I love laying out the basic shapes first either in BW, or simply straight using color. If I think it's essential first, I begin with linework first. When I've got a solid base I like to map into the light shapes as well as shadow shapes onto separate layers. Then, I begin to paint or render it in a variety of ways, from huge to tiny details.

For Streets of London painting I utilized a similar technique. In order to have neat edges and keep everything organized I used a lot of layers. Additionally, I had the primary light in another layer.
Using layers also makes me worry less about making mistakes. However, when I'm comfortable with where I'm at with the painting I start to merge some things, only keeping those things that I believe are necessary.

Colors to me are often a "feel" aspect, and I just go for those that feel right. I also have different references that I look at for help in choosing the right colours, sometimes I combine references, and at other times I use mainly one.
It's definitely a good idea to learn about color and light theory so you know what you could do to help make the general colour scheme and value stronger.

It's hard to pinpoint what the secret to creating my work... I just like to explore different styles, mediums and subjects and am inspiration from other artists.
It's still early on my art journey and continue to try to determine who I am as an artist, and what my style is. What's different in my life is that I don't really worry about it as much I used to and I'm sure that's making an enormous difference.

Nowadays, I'm mainly employed as a concept artist at Envar Studios but also do occasional freelance gigs.
In general, I'm more than active on Twitter than on Instagram. For those who want to purchase prints, I offer prints on Instagram.
