And when he did it and did it, it appeared similar to igniting the fuse by lighting the match. When the company was founded by him, he had Firepole Marketing with less than none; he was without customers, subscribers and no connections with the most influential individuals in the field. He also had there was a quarter million dollars in personal debt accumulated from the company he created in the year 2011 and that did not succeed. Greg Greg: I'm curious to find out whether you think there's the need for information-based goods? Do you think that this is something we should keep looking at or should we do all-out education?
Danny The response is a great question, and the answer is that there is always a need for knowledge. There are a lot of people who are buying books. Amazon is basically like the capital of the world, since they offer a wide selection of books. It's fantastic. It's a great information product. There is always a market who want to know, and that's fine. There's no need to pay any additional amount to obtain the data. If you're selling information you must be able to sell a lot of it in order to earn fascinating amounts of cash. If you're trying to figure out if they sell information or education, it's dependent on the particular subject matter depending on the change you wish to make. If you'd like to become Jim Collins and you want to inspire a larger set of managers to consider what possibilities they can have for their company. If you're able to achieve that and succeed, great. Write and promote books which are likely to attract an enormous number of people who look at them. Most of them will ignore them, but there are some who might take some of your suggestions. Some may employ you to talk with them and then pay for it in the millions. If you're thinking of being able to reach a lesser quantity of people of thousands, hundreds or tens of thousand more than million and want to assist them in making a greater impact you should consider education as the best alternative. It's all about your goals and what you'd like to accomplish and the impact you'd like to have? Information is everywhere and the need to educate. It's a problem when people confuse the distinctions between them and assume they're all the same.
Greg Greg I believe that this is an excellent idea, and you'll see lots of it. I'm an avid supporter of the educational aspect of everything. It's not always just facts which I consider to be an important aspect in certain circumstances. However, these lines become blurred and become blurred for consumers, numerous people are involved in information-related pursuits and advertise these as informative even though they're just spitting facts at your. What's the reason we're concerned with? This is me being a Devil's advocate. The idea isn't one I'd be able to support however, in the event that I could explain to the customer and say, "This is a course which is an educational product" However, there's no support in the background this course's goal is to provide facts. It is likely that numerous people are doing this. They care about making a sale however, they aren't thinking about the consequences afterward. Why should I be concerned with what will happen after? There is no doubt that you're very worried about this.
Danny Then this is a fantastic question. It's true that this isn't the opinion of you, but I'm fairly certain you're expressing a unconvinced perception. This is the main part of the question which I'd like to kind of clarify. This is a typical assumption many customers have. In the business world, there'll occur a moment when you'll be faced a number of situations where there is a problem of making the exact business choice, that is to earn more money and do what's right is the best choice. The way I think about business is they are the identical. If you take the example of, you might get more people to join by creating courses that aren't the real thing, but just a collection of info which is then smuggled across to the public informing them you're offering an offer that isn't. One thing to consider is that the volume of refunds is likely to increase, and people will feel disappointed, and they're not likely to be happy. That means you're likely to have the ability to keep that cash and you'll confront a significant issue with customer service, among many other aspects. It's an issue of ensuring the general public understands your values and beliefs they stand for. People won't be willing to work with your company. Today, the limits aren't as clear like they were in the past. In addition, there's a lack of educators that are trained. In the course of writing Teach and Grow Rich in my field of expertise, I was the only person. Thus, I'm thrilled to report that Teach and Grow Rich isn't that lengthy time ago. It began in September. It's time to register to participate in the March program. That means it's like just six months. It was just recently that it was revealed that there would be a major launch of a new program based on LinkedIn Marketing, by Josh Turner The company has developed a model of service like ours which we endorse as part of the program. I just finished an exchange and will be talking next week to someone who's an expert in the coaching field. He says "I really like the work you're doing and I'd like to take it on as well." This could happen at in the middle of summer. The trend is beginning to pick up steam and, once it gets more famous, people will be aware of what to look for, they're going to be able to identify the things they're looking for and ask "So you're claiming that there's support, but what does that actually mean?" "Oh there's an online forum in Facebook where I could sign up for chats with fellow students. It's true, but it's not as much of a the support you need. It's su-port." It's something you could have the ability to accomplish at some point, but building your company around items that are attainable for a bit longer isn't a good idea for the world of business.
Greg I totally share your opinion. Like I mentioned that my first online course launched ten years ago. I'm not part of it any longer as I'm now working to help other students create their own courses. In fact, it's taken quite a while since I ever thought about the idea. My primary source of income comes from reviewers, referrals and users who are seeking online reviews. If you're seeking an immediate gain then this is only for the short-term and are not think about the main purpose of the game. It's a continual passive income stream.
Danny Danny and more importantly, here. many think it's a question of do I create information products that do not provide any support? or educational-related products that have plenty of support? Naturally that with lots of support comes an enormous cost as well as the need to find instructors. You'll also need to answer emails. This is a false dichotomy. not the two options. There's no way to make it efficient if you're forced to give a massive amount of aid. It is important to take the time to dedicate the time and energy required to get to a place in which you can provide the training effectively without massive amounts of help. Our teaching method is fundamentally based on the notion that you need to sort of take these integrated exams. So, it is important to create a test version of your program prior to teaching the class. Be sure to be active and assist students with areas in which they may need assistance. Also, find out where they're stuck, the problems they're experiencing dealing with. Then, you can adjust your course to make them not needed anymore. Re-do the exercise repeatedly, then place it on semi-autopilot. This can be done with coaches, or any other person that you need to give assistance. When you've reached the point where you've reduced your procedure to the extent you're capable of or as low as you can in our lab for building courses every student is assigned an instructor who is a single person. Since the subject is complicated, even if the process is simplified the process isn't sufficient. In another course of ours we had a program called Write Like Freddy and we stopped it in order to revamp the program. We're planning to restart this program under the name"Standout Guest Posting at time in the near future. This program will provide less support but definitely not a committed instructor since it's a easier course and there's no requirement. Therefore, it's not as if it's necessary to get to the point where everybody gets a dedicated teacher and massive cost of overhead. You just have to be willing to invest the time to go through the process to reduce the amount of information you offer your thoughts until it's cost-effective.
Greg You're grateful that you took part because I think that is the cause of anxiety. This was something was a concern for me when I first brought my course up and in the course and have always wondered that when I first started this coaching business How would the course expand? Is it scalable? We know of individuals who have done this, and have seen others doing it and have the potential of growing. Your business is in the millions in your class which have grown, and now you're concentrating on the coaching part of the process. It's evidently a enterprise that can be scaled and I'm impressed by that since your strategy is akin to the approach of lean startup within the software industry.
Danny also, you must remain focused on that when you discuss scaling, as well as when they refer to scalability with classes like it's a application. Which is the most efficient approach to increase my business to an extensive number of customers without carrying the need for additional human interaction? This is a straightforward method to grow, but there's a myriad of options. Zappos is a massive company, and they're able to claim that they have an massive human-to-human interaction. However, this doesn't mean that there's any interaction with human beings. However this is a viable method to scale that can provide cost effective in all dimensions.
Greg What's the range on which you're trying to reach a certain percentage of both coaches and students? Do you have an ideal gold standard you're looking to achieve in relation to the ratios?
Danny Danny absolutely depends on the subject because of the topic and its outcome is likely to decide what the proper cost is and the amount of effort required. When you're done with your time, you've succeeded to balance two competing aspects. The first is that you need to make sure that each child receives the assistance they require to succeed. In the end, that usually means fewer students per coach instead of more. On the other hand of this, you have be sure you're earning profits, and are profitable, which means you have more students per coach. So it's vital to strike the perfect balance that's profitable as well as where students are provided with all the assistance they require. If you do not go through the the lean startup method, you're not likely to achieve the desired results as it's difficult to achieve those numbers without an effective course that is well-designed and efficient.
Greg The issue is: if you had the time to spend on teaching resources during the course Would you prefer less one-on-one contact through phone or email or have them in small groups with an instructor? There are a few occasions where I've invited at least 12 people, and the response from students were overwhelmingly positive. However, I've observed that I'm speaking first, so it's not easy to get a lot from everybody They ask questions but the individual participants don't share their thoughts or speak in the same way, as you only have about 2 or 3 minutes in the two or one hour hours coaching session. It does appear that the participants can gain many things from each other. Would you consider there's any advantage to group coaching sessions and the one-on-one coaching sessions, within the context of having a limited time for coaching?
Danny Danny answer is an outstanding query. This is an extremely difficult problem to resolve since it is dependent upon the subject. It's true that some topics are extremely sensitive. If you're helping someone learn how to deal with the situation that is extremely dependent on their friendship or relationship, they might not want to talk about the issue in front of 10 other people. It's not just the topic and how sensitive it's going to be as well as how private the question is likely to be. There's also the coaching method. Also, in the lab we have builders that discuss the work they're doing. One of the most common options for help is to send an email. When you send your question, you get an answer by your coach in 24 hours, as often as you require. Additionally, we have meetings. Individual calls at key moments in the course and we try to ensure you're on the right track before you move on to the next phase. Also, we provide phone calls in the office that means, every day, we will call you for approximately 45 minutes in length. The open-call feature works on Zoom exactly like this, where people can just join and chat with the court, and even have questions. We are constantly looking at alternative ways to conduct business. Also, we're considering the possibility of group coaching where you can schedule sessions of ten or fifteen minutes, within 90 minutes of working times. We're looking at long-term strategies, like meetings where participants participate simultaneously. If someone is having a hard to deal problem and may be able to attend a session with a maximum of four coaches to help work through the issue. In all of the above the things we're focusing on are two parameters. First, can doing we help our students perform better? Is it reducing or coaches' time? In the end, it would be best to combine both. However, at a minimum, there must be one without affecting the other in a manner that harms one.
Greg I believe it's great. Also, from a company's viewpoint, I'm impressed by the manner in which you're taking a look at the metrics you're using as well as making minor changes that benefit and beneficial, which is great. There was a brief discussion of the pilot program But could you provide the readers with a more of an explanation of the pilot project? It's likely to be in your book, but I'm not sure how much however the summary of what you do in the pilot program is especially important to me. It's your method of attempting to guide students' expectations during the pilot project.
Danny The reason to this question is that it's an idea that is radical. What does this mean is to tell your clients the truth. It's crucial to tell the truth and say that it isn't an unfinished or polished product. The program is experimental and is being tested it's the first time I've done this. It's a test of my beliefs. The thing I'm trying to achieve through the test is that I'm looking for opinions on factors that can make it more efficient. You'll pay fifty hundred dollars or one million dollars. No matter what. However, my students who participated in the pilot program get the course for free or at a an affordable price to exchange feedback. It's a must. There's no way of getting the item at a discount due to the fact that the product isn't working and it's still a fair price since the value is there. I'm looking for feedback and that's why I'm paying money portion, and then in part using the feedback that you offer. This is the way to go. If people are aware that it's the case, they're excited and thrilled about co-creating this with you in a specific method. As I write in my publications, I talk about collaboration's significance, and its importance in a commercial sense However the majority of people are open to collaboration, because they know that collaboration isn't intended to last forever, they're not considering it from an angle of how this design compares with the finished course I imagine it to look and what's the possibility of the situation in question, and what can you do to provide constructive feedback to assist in unlocking the possibilities?
Greg Fantastic and when people cooperate on something, they appreciate them more and this will lead to the next class or class, and recommend it to your friends or rating it highly positively. It's amazing to see this and am awestruck by it. This is an awesome concept. Make sure that your customers are open and honest. Tell them "Hey this is a test. You're invited to provide your thoughts."
Danny Danny is exactly the way it transpired in my student group right Someone shared a blog entry within our group of students who shared their experience of the first time they had training as a pilot. They designed their pilot before then sold it on the basis of the concept that we've developed. They had the chance to bring some new members on the board. They are currently giving their first course and recording it using Zoom as that's the platform that we're recording our classes on. They had however been using the Free version of Zoom and had not realized the fact that Zoom stops recording after forty minutes. Thus, the class ended after forty minutes, and then the class ended. After that, she was required to start a new session and everyone was back as normal. She was then deeply embarrassment. A student of hers said "Well that's what pilots do. This is what happens." They know this and are very knowledgeable. If you claim you've got the exact refined version and it occurs, the students will be irritated. But if you are upfront about what it is, the public will to love this way of doing things.
Greg: Yes, that's great. According to me, feedback loops can continue long after the pilot gone, as well. If you start in this way you'll not be able to end. Consider the billion-dollar businesses such as Slack and Slack and Slack that were both founded on the co-creation feedback loop, and keep adding it to their processes and continuing to develop it. This is an essential part of their expanding factor I think.
Danny: Absolutely.
Greg Greg problem is that I have one more question that I want to ask you. This is an immense issue. And it's in its most basic version: is anyone educated? You have a high chance that you'll get that sort of bigger image as well as the issues that people face. Therefore, I'm planning to continue to. Are there any people that can connect online and create online educational materials and also teach?
Danny Danny answer to this question is excellent answer. But, the solution is yes, however it's. Additionally, not every person can be a teacher, however, you must be able to demonstrate something important for the public to be aware of and also be able to convey relevant information in an effective and meaningful method. Both are skills. But the bar is a much lower level than most people believe. In terms of having an item that people like, a lot of people think they are experts within my area, but there aren't seven doctoral degree degrees or three bestsellers. This is right. You do not need it as I think it, is that is now an expert. The point isn't to pretend you're an expert in something that you're and don't, it's about realizing how valuable what you've learned and who you can actually benefit from it. The second graders don't care what you're doing in the 4th year or eighth grade or possess a PhD or not, they're interested in helping them in their multiplication tables, or any other goal they're attempting to achieve. Beyond a certain level beyond that, all additional data or information becomes ineffective. The process gets in the way of. The more you learn typically in your pursuit of knowing that you are able to know, the more likely you will be slightly more challenging in your in understanding those who you're serving. Teaching is a talent and an art in it. Some are competent, knowledgeable teachers. Certainly, not every person is the best educator in the world. It is true for asking "Can anybody write? There is no guarantee that each person will to turn into Malcolm Gladwell, but most individuals can be taught to write better than they currently. Be taught to write in a manner that is good enough that it's efficient. The same approach to teaching is used. It's possible that you're not the best teacher all over the world, however you'll be able teach effectively and efficient. The most crucial actions to take is to limit the knowledge that you're trying to teach and I often discuss this within my books. Also, it's important to perform the piloting procedure because we all do not realize that teaching is an acquired technique. The ability to instruct a particular portion of material in an occurrence is an acquired capability. However, do you have the ability to achieve this kind of result that is effective in the first go-round? It's possible, but most likely you won't. Do you possess the capacity to get to the level where you're able to do well when you have tried it multiple times, have feedback and then continue to grow? It is likely. Although not everybody has the ability, the majority of people have the ability.
Greg"Great That's incredible and I'm certain that you've heard of this regularly. In one instance, an individual was able to utilize a tactic that his coworkers would come up to him, asking "Hey would you like to help me with this?" And it was as it was very specific. He had just one device he used for his work. He then created an online course with to stop people from interrupting his work flow. He then stated "Here is the chance to learn from my class." Then, he began to take off. He resigned from his job and relocated to a beach in the middle of nowhere. He is staying there with his family, including his child, and teaching full-time on the internet. He has no status as a celebrity, no massive mailing list, and even no influential job. You can be sure that there is a lot of people who are more knowledgeable about the subject. But he went out and designed the course that he designed. And he didn't even use every tool in the market but instead focused on one specific aspect of making use of it that people constantly asked concerns about. Therefore, I believe it's an opportunity to make a difference, since you mentioned that perhaps not everyone could be ideal for the job, but you can find particular areas of interest and master the methods to master them.
Danny Danny: What child didn't show his peers at school the way to be successful? Most of us do. It's not meant to suggest that you're the greatest educator on the planet However, it's to state that demonstration, teaching and communications are all part of human nature. So, regardless of whether you're successful in your business is in this field and it's isn't a sign that it's a totally new concept.
Greg: Yes, definitely. Awesome. This is extremely useful. I'm sure that each member of our audience will gain immense benefit from this. Check out Danny's book Teach and to Rich. It's an amazing book that provides great insights, starting with a piloting of your course through certain patterns that are prevalent within this field and the market, and then how you can get the most benefit from them and be sure to ensure that your students years down the line you will have a head start on the game. Thanks, Danny. I am truly grateful for your time. Your thoughts on this topic were extremely helpful and I'm eager to have future conversations with you in the near future.
Danny: Greg I am so grateful to you for hosting me. It was my joy. I'm looking forward to hosting the same event again.
