Cassey Ho of Blogilates shares strategies to be successful prior to SXSW
With the imminent recession, individuals are searching for strategies to secure their business, and that includes producers of the content. It is the reason why people are beginning to recognize that the only dependence on sponsorship agreements, partnership agreements or partnerships for revenue isn't sustainable.
An upcoming recession isn't the only factor to be considered. Brand deals along with similar ones aren't regarded as trustworthy, particularly among artists that are surrounded by huge fans. Add a decline in the mix and deals could be canceled completely as sources of revenue for several artists.
Solutions to the issue are being developed, one of them social media creator funds, such as TikTok's. While they're evident however, they've also been criticised due to the limited payouts they offer because of the huge amount of creators wanting to share of the funds. To combat this issue, TikTok is actively looking into a new version of its creator fund that would give creators more pay-outs. However, it is too early to determine if this variant of fund will be successful in the places it's not able to succeed in.
In order to understand the basic principles which determine the way entrepreneurs build sustainable companies and be free from the social media limitations it is a part of this interview with queen of entrepreneurialism herself, business mogul Cassey Ho, aka Blogilates.

This meant that Cassey could concentrate on her love for fashion. Please note that these responses are slightly edited to make them clearer.
What is the best way to pitch the elevator music you play?
You could say I'm a fitness and style-oriented entrepreneurial. My first venture started with YouTube as an instructor for pilates. Each platform has between 14 and 15 million people with more than 2 billion views. I basically was able to start my career by providing video workouts that are free for users, however that wasn't my goal in the first place. My dream has always been to be at the forefront of fashion. I started teaching workouts, developed a community and, because of this I had the opportunity to return to my initial passion for wearing the latest fashion. The people I taught to were asking me for yoga attire and yoga tools and I began to dress my students. It's been an amazing experience as social media brought me back to my first interest in yoga. The yoga mats I use are found at Target under Blogilates, and POPFLEX is my business in clothing.
We'll look deeper and learn what you've learned from your experiences on social media. Why did you decide to launch your own YouTube channel?
I was employed in a teaching position as an instructor of Pilates at the college. I was a teacher of POP Pilates specifically. It can be taught by using music. At the moment, there was no instruction in that kind of Pilates. Pilates was taught without music, or in only the classical music style. It's the reason I taught these classes at 24- Hour Fitness, and I was nearing the end of my education when I received an offer for a job with an organization situated in Boston and was informed that I was required to move to another area of the country and I could not teach this kind of pilates longer. This is why I took the initiative to film a 10 minute exercise and upload it onto YouTube. YouTube was the first website to be launched in 2009. It was a goal to have only 40 participants in the facility. This was the final goal. Once I had uploaded to YouTube and deleted it, I didn't look at it again until one month later. It received numerous visits, and hundreds of users asking for more. This is the reason for why I made Blogilates!
What is your method of engaging in social media changed from your viewpoint since you first started Blogilates at the beginning of 2009?
In 2009, YouTube that was used to create video. Facebook was where you created an internet-based community. It was an amazing platform when it was in its glory days. Through the past few years, there have been different social media platforms come up in the past, and it's challenging, but it is essential to maintain the relevance of your brand by changing to the latest platforms. You have to determine the kind of content you're able to share with those who use them and the best method to develop content to every. You must continue enjoying your game, but remember that social media, at the end of all is just an instrument. Therefore, it is dependent on the person who watches the game through this tool. For the most part, however, all the time I consider it to be an excellent thing since it is able to break down barriers and nobody is preventing the way to achieving your goals. Keep trying and testing until you find a type of material that is effective that you can keep striving to make improvements every single time.
What's changed since your debut in 2009? What's changed since you began your journey into becoming a creator for YouTube?
It's been some time since there was a change! It was 2009 and it wasn't an option; earning cash through partnerships with brands was not an option; AdSense wasn't ever even a thought in the past. videos were uploaded to YouTube to fulfill the purpose that they wanted to share their expertise and funny videos and moments. That was it. The goal was not to become famous or being YouTube celebrities. It's 2023 and across the world, everything is different, which is quite different from the past in several ways. It's likely to be less authentic.
The desire to be influential or creators due to the desire for attention, and the recognition. They are driven by numbers they want to achieve, and it's unhappy to think about this as most of the first creators who started in 2009 attended the event in order to meet. This is why that I went to the event. I was hoping to train POP Pilates. That's one of the main reasons Blogilates was created over 14 years. The blog hasn't stopped being around, which is happening often and is accompanied by fresh writers. The market is new and at a battle. It's great for entrepreneurs since it's not necessary to depend on traditional media or advertisements to establish your brand on the internet. Instead, start connecting with your followers by using your smartphone and making videos for TikTok as well as YouTube as well as Instagram Reel. Instagram Reel.
What was your experience when you first started making income via YouTube? Do you have a strategy that allows you to create a continuous stream of earnings? If so, can you provide us with the details of your program?
Sincerely, I'm not certain what was the real idea. There was always a job as a background employee. The goal was not to be fully involved with YouTube as I did all things in the background, whether it was selling stuff or at my very first job at a company. That's why I didn't have a strategy. But, at first I started to notice that YouTubers and bloggers were offered contract terms with brands. I had no idea the idea of having an agent or manager was even possible. One of my blog writers said to me , 'Don't be worried about it. It's not necessary to reach out. Keep growing your fan base and soon enough you'll already have them.' That's the exact scenario that took place. I'm not certain if I considered it was a good idea or otherwise however, I did the effort to concentrate on my target audience and supply my readers with incredible material that I was attracted to. Then everything was born from the same source. Brand deals, AdSense and everything else make up my revenue stream, however, today they are just a tiny fraction of my revenue total because they're the primary source of income.
Have you noticed the same thing being repeated for you? Was it first on social?
It was initially than an awkward split as I was always making yoga mats, as well as yoga bags, and there were brand deals on the horizon and were predicted to grow. However as they grew and more expensive, I became unhappy. I'm not a fan [brand deals] as often, in these types of agreements, you're ensnared with companies that don't truly agree with your ideas or values. This is like going through the entire list of bullets in the brief. After that, you send your work which is then smashed to fragments all bullet points after which they're trying to modify the content as they're not happy with the content. The constant sensation that somebody was telling me what I can or should not create using my material and my intended viewers. I became so annoyed with brand agreements as well as my plan over the last couple of years was to quit these contracts and focus on discussing my brand.
Let's discuss the algorithm. How can algorithms affect your chances to earn cash from social media sites?
Since I started creating video tutorials on design less than two months later, it dawned on me that it was the way was the TikTok algorithm or YouTube algorithm performed, perhaps more than Instagram algorithm. It could affect the long-term potential of an item in addition to the rate that it's being sold. We had an unflattering video go through the roof and get more than twenty million viewers or greater. The video was sold out only a couple of days. In certain instances the video may become popular in one location and not the other. Similar is the case for TikTok. It's fascinating to observe the way it works, and I'm not sure if the reason is because my target users being different across different platform however I think it's due to the fact that, like TikTok has a very high chance of becoming viral due to its capacity to give it to a look-alike audience regardless of size, which is interesting. The algorithm plays an important role in how the videos do in addition to why it plays a crucial part in sales. However, it is important to keep creating a high-quality product, which is what I do with my employees and I do every day do, you don't have to view the content that become viral. They're great however, my business doesn't have to be viral. it's based on a great product.
As time goes on creatives are likely to realize that they need to use social media for more of an opportunity to grow their following and increase the sources of traffic, but less as a tool to monetize their content, as we've been able to do. What are your thoughts about this trend?
You want to provide something of value to the people who visit your site. Your goal is to provide them with value in whatever way, be it entertainment or education. It's impossible to create an audience when you're only hoping to make profits from the audience. It doesn't matter what it is to those that are watching at this point: What is that thing you're offering to the public and that they will be able to take home and remember? Just keep trying to aid your target audience. When you're finished with the stage of launching your product, customers will be able to recall the way you assisted them. They'll eagerly take part in your process as you release your service. Even though this wasn't the plan I had in mind, but it's how it ended up.
YouTube's YouTube videos are available for accessible for free for 10 years of the design process and people who are watching the development of the product, and desire to be part of it. In addition, by involving all those working on the design process, I've built this project that has created an authentic community.
Most creators believe the only method to earn money is through affiliate deals that they sign with social networks. Which are the top places to suggest creators diversify their internet sources for income?
We will look at the various ways creators are able to diversify their sources of revenue. Of course, you have brand names and can use AdSense on YouTube as well as TikTok's creator fund. Creators are also able to create products or online products and services like an online platform or training course . When it comes down to it, one must ask yourself what you are offering. What are people willing to pay for? It is important to ask this question since you can create free content, however you shouldn't be giving away all of your content as free. In the event that you do, you'll end up getting burnt out. In addition, the behaviour of consumers has proven that when somebody purchase something it is much more likely that they will adhere to the manner that they have stated instead of if the item is offered at no cost.
It's essential to determine what the purpose of your work will be prior to making it into something which can become a product of service or content.
What strategies have you used to expand your reach through social media in order to advertise POPFLEX and the Blogilates line of goods from Target? Which way have you referred users from social media to your website?
I'll tell the audience what I thought of when I came up with an idea. If I present an awesome sweater, it's not only talking about "Ooh! This is a great garment. The best thing to do is buy it. Additionally, we're not offering the product to the public. We're trying to teach them. I design in order to address problems. I integrate them into the designing process, as well as assist them in being included all through the process, and take part in the process. Their design requests will be passed onto the development team, which we assist to get it done, and in doing that this builds trust with my customers. We do not treat them as customers, rather we're working with them as co-designers. This creates a pleasant experience to everyone.
In the sense of transferring my followers to my website from my social media accounts to my website My focus is on the obvious aspects like using an Instagram hyperlink. For example, making use of tags to market your merchandise. Links are a way to redirect my customers away from my social media profiles to my website. Furthermore, I use other content creators in order to show my clothes and demonstrate how my clothes is suitable for women of various sizes and shapes. What we create is the reason why my website has become popular and why people get to the site. Additionally I use newsletters to make many sales.
What was your initial concept that you decided to focus on? What inspired you developing your Pop Pilates courses on ?
I've been looking for a long time for an online platform which can offer me a teacher training program . At the beginning of this podcast, I spoke about the possibility of offering POP Pilates at 24 Hour Fitness. In a few years, POP Pilates becomes the official pilates class offered by the 24 Hour Fitness centres across the US. This is why I wanted to locate an online program or site to be able to house all instructors, and also show the movements however I didn't discover any. I was watching Chalene Johnson's show. She was talking casually about some thing and mentioned . It was then that I learned about the incident ! It truly was the only platform that allow me to accomplish what I wanted to do with the quantity I needed to do it. I'm very grateful to it.
Analyzing the world of creators overall. What are the biggest mistakes that creators make in the present?
Creators have a number of mistakes , however one of the most significant issues I've seen is when creators get a lot of notice and have a massive following. When suddenly, they're offered branding contracts, and their work is a little made. Naturally, they'll require money, and must pay for their costs, but simultaneously they're ruining the trust of their followers. I've witnessed it happen to me. of content] decimate the brand names of creators. In addition, I'm interested in learning how the career of a creator based upon other professions plays out. As an example, a teacher, turns into an influencer. One of the reasons they've become well-known is due to their work as educators. What exactly do they mean that they stop teaching now that they've become famous as creators?
We have a suggestion for the people who are reading this. Begin a new journey .
What's one thing that the creators don't do enough of?
Each day, I am told consumers are seeking similar products to those you sell. A lot of people would like to be able to offer a range of products for convenience , and avoid having to talk about different brands constantly.' However, here's the issue that I'd like you to take interest in. You should be able to envision operating an organization built around items. Any artist with an following must be able sell an item or service. It's the place where people that are artistic should put on their work, however you have to be a firm believer and truly believe in the product. If you're not, it's going to be hard to generate sales.
Have you got any suggestions you would offer anyone who's new to this area and is trying for a way to begin using their digital products?
It's a reference to the points I made earlier in the article regarding determining the value it is possible to offer to your customers at the beginning before deciding how to package it so that people are able to purchase the item. You have to keep your eyes on what this is. If you're not certain, you're okay. You can determine the exact nature of that issue through cost-free content. One of the most important things is to sense out who you're talking to. However, I would like to add, it is crucial to avoid following your followers in the direction that you're not comfortable entering into. If you're a slave to statistics and are influenced by the opinions of other people, you may end up becoming a victim of your own personal identity. At the end of the day, you're less motivated, and don't recognize who you truly are. It is one of the primary reasons that creators are exhausted. They who create such work are unhappy since they do not feel the need to be living in their own way. They're making, living, and having a life that is their own. Be aware of each signal you get, not just your heart. When you're done with your day, you must to produce content that is fun for you otherwise it will not be successful.
You can control your destiny by using digital solutions
It's clear that the future of the creator's success is dependent on diversifying their revenue stream in order to build profitable businesses that are sustainable, similar to what Cassey did.
Digital products like online courses, in addition to tangible items and brand partnerships Cassey has managed to grow her influence around the world and ultimately, take the reins of her own destiny.
The way that creators follow how they make use of social media is likely to shift. They'll use it not as a method of monetization and instead use it as an opportunity to steer the user toward other source for income such as digital products.
"The greatest contribution that I have made is aiding me in creating an instructor group that is active to teach Pop Pilates." Cassey Ho Cassey Ho
It has enabled nearly 55,000 of the most creative entrepreneurs make a total of $4.9 billion. The number is growing every day that goes by.
We're eliminating the middleman, let you keep all of your earnings. You also control your customers as well as the models you use to operate, or perhaps even your own branding.
