The fiber-artist Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber-artist and illustrator based in Baltimore. I came to Baltimore in order for school at Maryland Institute College of Art. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in which Nicole Mueller and I met and became friends before we launched Beyond the Studio. Beyond the Studio podcast together. In the past nine years I've built up my own small business in the field of art called Call Studio Close Call Studio which I run full time.

What would you say about your style?

My art style, whether drawing, sewing or whatever is unselfconscious and meant to delight and inspire people. My style can be moody or clear and my work can be kinda darker, but I always have an element of humor and a sense of play.

What is the key to creating art?

It varies from season the season, but having an attitude of "no pressure" at the drawing table is a must for me right now. I've been a huge quantity of stress on myself, which did not reflect effectively in my professional or personal the rest of my life. Creating spaces for relaxation and garden are as essential for me like sitting down and drawing.
