Information about the fiber artist Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber-artist and illustrator based in Baltimore. I came to Baltimore in order to go to Maryland Institute College of Art. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in which Nicole Mueller and I met and began to become friends. It was before that we started the Beyond the Studio podcast together. Since the beginning of the year, I've been building up my art-related business, a small one close Call Studio which I run all day long.

What is your personal style?

My style of art-making whether that's drawing, sewing or anything else is non-self-conscious designed to please and inspire others. It's possible to be moody and clear and my pieces can seem a bit dark but there's always an element of humor and fun to be found.

What is the key in creating your artwork?

It varies from season season but currently holding the mindset that is "no pressure" in the studio is a must for me in the present. I've put on a lot amount of stress on myself that didn't show well in my work or the rest of my life. Creating space for rest and gardening are just as imperative for me as sitting down to draw.
