Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan about embracing her sensitive true self through her art work:

My work is very emotional. I create portraits of myself that portray the things I am feeling. I have always been a sensitive and sensitive person. Since I was a child I've had a feeling that always felt a bit uncomfortable and I tried to put it down. (...) As you grow and realize that you're not alone and that everyone experiences different. I decided to use my emotional energy that I bring to my everyday life and start painting. I use it to fuel my imagination and spark the imagination of others. It's amazing that the thing I had been striving to get rid of all day and then, suddenly I put it down on piece of paper and was like a huge release. There is finally the possibility to use this sensitivity, I can use these emotions, pains, and joys to put them down on paper. The experience was truly wonderful and brought me to a place where I felt grateful. The experience began to resonate with a lot of people too. It was a time of opening myself to putting ideas onto paper that I had have never considered previously. In lieu of trying to look the same as other artists who have were already "made it", I really tuned to what I wanted to express and the person I am as a person. I embraced something that I was not happy with about myself , and then realized this was my true power. I'm really content being my true sensitive self.
