My story
My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I grew up in Russia.
I attended college in Moscow However, I lived outdoors in the countryside.
There was no hot water and the home was heated with a heater which was used by the neighbors to raise goats and cows. Wonderful times! Besides nature and bicycles I was obsessed with animated cartoons. All my peers grew up and stopped liking cartoons. But I did contrary! It was then that I realized that it would become my favorite thing to do. That's how I got into the film academy located in Moscow, Russia.

My style
I want my drawings to always provoke some profound feelings. Like coming to warm up with a fire in the middle of your day through the forest.

My procedure
I love the process of drawing. It has something in common with meditation. If I'm in the process of working I can see it getting dark outside, I'll get hungry, but nothing really is important while engaged in my work.

Today, I work in both the animation industry and illustration... And I even design board games. I really love what I do.
I've always drawn a lot. It started looking more professional after I finished my degree. As I decided what and how I draw.

My suggestion to skeptical visual artists
Think about what you like and enjoy the thing you like about it. Try to listen less to the opinions of others when you don't like what they do. All will be well! There will be those who will be enthralled by what you're doing.

My technique
I draw almost everything on my iPad in Procreate. I sometimes finish something in Photoshop.
The iPad has really transformed my life. Now I work at home, in cafes, and in libraries. I choose a place to work. I also travel, and I do not just sit in front of my computer. So the iPad is an amazing tool that blends traditional drawing and drawing on computers.

The iPad comes with amazing brushes. For example, I bought watercolor brushes through "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". I get excited every time I try them. They're as close to real watercolors as is possible.

A few words about the way I conduct my work
I try to make an approximate outline of objects. Since I find hard lines rough and cold.
Sometimes I make my shadows cold bluish with the multiply setting. Sometimes I employ overlay. However, I'm not sure how it works.

Procreate has some good blur settings, try these out! There are several varieties, and they're excellent. However, I prefer drawing as I do with traditional art materials, either on paper or canvas.
I'm still looking, learning about my subject as well as trying to come closer to the image I love by creating personal work.

Information about the Teriberka series
I did after traveling there (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. It was a town that were able to construct ships and catch a lot of fish. It's now a bit of a ghost town.
Please Google it! It's beautiful.

I always like the North.
I like my animals, people and the million of shades of the moss. Tiny berries contain loads of vitamin C, which is more than tropical fruits. It's quite amazing.
Northern Cliffs appear to be the skin of huge elephants! This is the feeling that I tried to show in the pictures.

About the Tiny Things series
The idea came to my thoughts after I had become exhausted from work, the pandemic, and the urban environment.

I bought an macro lens, and then went to the woods. What a stunning beauty was under my feet! Everything was breathtaking. It gave me plenty of inspiration and creativity. That's how this project came about.
Whatever happens, there is a miracle right under the feet!

How I organize my work time
It is a challenge to keep your time and sleep in check and to say no to requests that aren't suitable. or to do a lot of work and try to survive and not get tired from doing the things you enjoy. This is all I'm still studying.

The creative blockages
The tough aspect is actually the procedure itself - sometimes it doesn't take place. I don't like the result. This means you'll have to suffer for up to eight hours and get angry. After that, just a few days later, you can redo it in a matter of minutes and the result looks perfect. What's that? Magic.

This is my little piece of advice for how to conquer creative blocks
If you are faced with a particular kind of work to do, you should not get up immediately to draw (if you can). Allow your mind to think on the side while working on other tasks. It's the way I see you can find the best solution.

My view of my work
If I were to grade my work, I wouldn't give myself an "excellent". It's very exhausting and I do my best to make myself miserable. However, on the other side I am pushed to move forward.
Drawing can be like an adventure!
You have tickets for a destination, and you already know something about it on Google but something might surprise your right there. At first, it looks like a cool adventure to me.

You can find her work on, and keep an eye out for the next installment of this series on Instagram , Artstation or Behance.
