A "Gardyn" within Every Home An Online Success Story
The most innovative indoor gardening kit Gardyn utilizes in order to create the name of Gardyn at the door of every home. The Gardyn brand is featured on Forbes, Good Housekeeping, Time, Real Simple, Goop and many more. Gardyn picked it for its capacity as well as its customizability. They've also used software like Trustpilot, Affirm, Klaviyo, and Amazon Pay to improve their eCommerce marketing and conversion rates.
Meet Gardyn
The Gardyn's founder and chief executive FX Rouxel began Gardyn in the year 2019, it was an easy, yet enthralling goal -- to help build a world in which everyone was able to access cheap and convenient food that was all natural which was produced sustainably and that had minimal environmental impact.
With this Gardyn indoor gardening method allows you to plant fruits, vegetables, herbs and even greens within only two square feet of space, with the same amount of produce that would require more than a thousand square feet for a traditional outdoor garden!
The app allows users to have control over the device, and allows them to control their light and water schedule, put it on vacation mode, or order additional Y cubes. These represent the seeds of the plant.
The history of Gardyn
Gardyn began in the year of 2019 , and they shipped their first prototype in February 2020 in the same month the company launched its new site with .
Following his move into the U.S., Rouxel was discouraged that he couldn't locate fruits and veggies that tasted like the fresh and organic fruits and vegetables from his home of Provence, France. It was this search for the tastes of his childhood that inspired him to design the Gardyn system. Instead of looking for solutions at the beginning of the process, and helping farmers in generalFX was focused on the end consumer. Now, almost anyone can cultivate their own food with minimal hassle and space.
This technology was developed through a partnership together with McGill University in Canada, it is the only one that is specifically developed for indoor usage to allow more than 30 plants.

It was founded at the time that COVID-19 brought renewed attention around the world for family-run, sustainable food supplies and home-based initiatives, Gardyn grew rapidly. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Gardyn currently has a remote workforce of more than 50 people.
Gardyn's engines are the reason for its success.
We had a chat with Ava the person responsible for their marketing and website. She met Gardyn when she was working for an agency that they employed for their marketing. She became absorbed by Gardyn's mission and the enthusiasm of Gardyn's leadership team.
"I am in love with this company." She said "They were looking to make marketing internal and I couldn't bear to leave. That's why I requested to stay , and I was hired full-time."
Her passion is palpable -- coming across more like the founder rather than Head of Website.
Making the Right Choice
Ava was instrumental in selecting as their platform of choice. Ava isn't a developer, but does have some experience with WordPress.
"The main reason why we picked Shopify is that it was compatible with WordPress and also provided us with the maximum flexibility. We did not want an additional cookie cutter Shopify store. Shopify could be an issue to modify. I would definitely need a developer...and we didn't have one.
However, since I do know a bit about WordPress however, not too very much the platform, I was able to search for the best way to create our new website."
The initial version of their site was built completely on their own, using Elementor without developers. The site had everything they required to get off the ground with a Product Detail Page (PDP) and membership capabilities as well as a user-friendly check-out and shopping cart experience for customers.
"There were, obviously, some growing pains," Ava says. Ava. "Just trying to prepare in terms of scaleability. We'd code something the way we wanted, and then after two months it would be necessary to go back since I hadn't thought further ahead."
Luckily, gave Gardyn the freedom to grow quickly as the company soared in popularity -- even in the span of a month or next.

As the Webmaster's Head, Ava keeps a close watch on the data. "I want to see whether, when they arrive on the home page, do they proceed to the PDP? Then from there I would like to know how much it costs for the PDP in the form of an "add to cart" cost, and after that clearly, to add it to the cart to checkout. All I want is for everything to be smooth and seamless through the process. Especially those key metrics -"PDP to conversion, cart to convert, checkout to conversion," PDP to conversion and cart conversion check out to conversion."
A major way she's found how to boost these metrics is through customer reviews.
Reviewing reviews on Trustpilot
One of the biggest challenges her job as a marketer is educating customers about exactly what Gardyn is and what it is in comparison to other systems for food production at home.
"It's telling people that we've got the Tesla however, If they've never even driven or driven, what do they think it is that a Tesla is? It's been a challengecommunicating the concept in a manner that they know how it will fit into their lives. It's not just another chore or an activity that's likely disappear. It's so simple and it's always there."
One of the best ways to tackle this problem they found, is making use of user-generated content (UGC) that comes in the form of customer reviews. The Gardyn team noticed the potential of reviews but required a platform which can consolidate reviews into one place. The platform had to be authentic.

They began with a different system however, they quickly switched to Trustpilot that has dramatically improved the effectiveness of their reviews.
"It creates a sense of confidence when people go to the Trustpilot site and see that the reviews and reviewers are genuine. And customers write detailed reviews that have five stars. We're not offering them any incentives, it's just their desire to let us know that they are awed by Gardyn."
In order to get reviews, Gardyn sends out an email to individual customers that are engagedsuch as loyal users. It also promotes the Facebook group where people are collaborating and doing their best to make the maximum value from the system.
Trustpilot makes it easy to go further with the feedback they get.
"The Backend experience with Trustpilot makes it much simpler for us to control, and see, and be able to download particular reviews and stuff like that. It allows us to connect with the reviewers and try to collect photographs, or even get additional stories for our blog to add that human feel and emotional bond.
We especially found it useful for creating ads or review cards using Trustpilot. I'm able download all the SVG files very quickly. Everything's already set up to follow the highest standards of practice which is very helpful."
Reviewing the website and in marketing has proven to be vital.
"I did video user experience feedback where people went through the website and spoke out loud about their experience as well as their thoughts. Eight out of ten said something like, 'Oh reviews! This is good.' We also use testimonials in every email. Every footer we include Trustpilot reviews in each footer."
In the real world, the result speak for themselves.
When Gardyn adds reviews to its Facebook advertisements, their click-through rates double. And when they introduced reviews to their website, engagement went up and bounce rates dropped.
Integrating additional tools and features for success
Ava previously mentioned that their decision to choose the platform for their store was, in part because of the adjustable nature of the platform. What exactly does that manifest itself?
Extensions.
"I'm self-taught and have acquired the ability to Google. I've learned how to study. There's no way to tell what extension works until you try it out. This is why the 30-day policy for return can be extremely helpful.
The great part is, that WordPress is open source and it being open source you have a myriad of ways you can go. There are so many things available, and you'll be able to find exactly what you need. There's always an extension to everything I'm looking for.

She says that Trustpilot as well as Affirm have definitely made the greatest impact in the growth of their sites.
"It was super easy to integrate with . It's hard to understand the reason we hadn't utilized it before. Klaviyo instantly understands how to use the funnel. It has doubled the amount of people we can capture from abandoned carts due to the fact that Klaviyo is able to integrate abandoned carts and display an ad. I believe we've got close to 50,000 users today."
Implementing express pay
The MyGardyn website launched express pay options in November 2021 . The site instantly saw acceptance by users. The majority of customers have adopted it. Now more than 40% of desktop transactions along with 60% mobile transactions utilize express payments. As a tally of the transactions in all 30% of transactions are made using a credit card, and 20% pay through Affirm.
The most important thing is that they saw an increase of 50% in mobile conversions compared to desktop during the same time period. This underscores the importance of express payment options including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Amazon Pay.
"It's very nice" says Ava, "The express pay options have significantly increased our conversion rates and mobile sales. Our abandonment rate is actually minimal, too."
"If you think about the fact that everyone uses Amazon. So I just feel everyone's thinking, 'Oh, I have it. I'm already signed into the app. The process takes about 2 seconds. I think the abandonment rate is about 17. It's really low."

Looking towards the future
Gardyn is a company that aims to provide everyone with access to fresh foods. An Gardyn in every home, of course, is the ultimate goal.
The company is currently developing an G3 Initiative, called Gardyn Grows for Good which is working with schools and nonprofit organizations in order to provide food to shortages and affected communities. The goal of this project is to provide healthy and affordable food to low income areas.
In the event she is asked to share advice she'd provide to other people, she does not hesitate.
"Don't be scared to implement big changes," says Ava. "A website is never done. It's never ending. The landscape is always evolving. Be aware of your instincts and be sure to follow the facts I would highly recommend and Trustpilot.
If you're selling something, or engaging in hardcore marketing Do it with a purpose that improves the quality of life, and makes you feel at ease when someone buys the product."
Then, Ava also shared her top things she has grown in the garden of her Gardyn: "My favorite thing is known as Red Mustard. It's really a spicy lettuce and taste similar to horseradish. It's delicious for sandwiches! Also, I've grown cherry tomatoes and strawberries that were so delicious. I've never had anything quite as delicious."
